What Types of Stretch Marks Can Improve?

The Truth About Red, White, Deep, and Wide Stretch Marks

Not all stretch marks respond the same way.

And before we talk about treatment, I need to say something clearly:
stretch marks do not disappear.

They are a form of dermal scarring. What we can do is improve their texture, depth, and color — sometimes significantly — but not erase them.

Understanding the type you have is everything.

Red Stretch Marks (Striae Rubrae)

Red, pink, or purple stretch marks are newer.

At this stage:

This is the most responsive phase.

When I treat red stretch marks early, I can help guide the remodeling process. In many cases, we can:

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Improve texture

  • Help them transition into a softer, more refined silver tone

What I cannot promise is that they will vanish.

But I can often help them mature in a healthier way — flatter, less inflamed, and less noticeable.

Sometimes, especially in early cases, partial pigment balance can return over time.

Timing matters here. The earlier we intervene, the better the response.

White or Silver Stretch Marks (Striae Albae)

White stretch marks are mature scars.

At this stage:

  • Blood vessel density is reduced

  • Melanocyte activity is lower

  • Collagen fibers are disorganized and stable

  • The tissue is less elastic

These require reactivation.

Through regenerative stimulation, I work to:

  • Improve dermal density

  • Increase collagen organization

  • Reduce the depth of the depression

  • Improve elasticity

In some cases, especially in medium to darker skin tones, I’ve seen partial return of pigment in treated areas — but this is not guaranteed.

White stretch marks will not disappear.

They can become softer, less indented, and blend better with surrounding skin.

Deep Stretch Marks

When stretch marks are visibly indented, the issue is structural.

There is a collagen deficit in the dermis.

With the right regenerative protocol, we can often:

  • Reduce the depth

  • Improve elasticity

  • Strengthen the surrounding tissue

But again — not erase them.

Improvement is gradual and requires multiple sessions spaced properly.

Wide Stretch Marks

This is very important.

If stretch marks are very wide, the skin has experienced significant dermal rupture.

Those will not close or shrink completely.

What I can often do is:

  • Improve texture

  • Reduce visual contrast

  • Improve surrounding skin quality

But the width itself does not fully reverse.

Honesty here matters.

Can Color Return?

Sometimes.

In certain cases — particularly in medium to darker skin tones — I have seen partial pigment activity return after regenerative treatment.

However, this depends on:

  • Depth of damage

  • Duration

  • Skin type

  • Individual healing response

It is never something I promise. It is something that may occur in responsive tissue.

My Philosophy: Improve, Don’t Overpromise

Stretch marks are scars.

They can:

  • Become less deep

  • Become softer

  • Blend better

  • Look healthier

  • Feel stronger

They do not disappear.

My role is not to sell fantasy results.
My role is to improve your skin safely, realistically, and scientifically.

If you’re unsure what type of stretch marks you have, I can evaluate them properly and explain exactly what is achievable in your case.

No exaggeration.
No false promises.
Just honest, structured improvement.
